A big part of the effort to vaccinate enough people to slow down the pandemic and eventually create herd immunity is a global call-to-arms to prevent too many more contagious and even more deadly variants from coming forth. Antibody resistance in new variants is of major concern, also. The longer the pandemic occurs, the more dangerous our future becomes.
