In addition, I suggest buying two non-slip floor mats that are flexible enough to follow the contour of your windshield but heavy enough to stay in place in windy conditions. Put them in place when parking. Cover each of the wipers at the bottom side. You don’t need to cover the entire windshield, just enough coverage to give you a useable field of vision when you remove them. You’ll have much less scraping and such to contend with, and your defroster blower will finish clearing the glass much more rapidly.
