includes one tidbit #7 - Earth's solid and liquid cores together generate the magnetic field that keeps the solar wind from stripping away our atmosphere. [Mars has no substantial atmosphere because it's been long ago striped away by the solar wind because its inner core now lacks the degree of radioactive heat generation to generate a magnetic field like Earth does.]
